Assembly and Installation Instructions.
- Lay out all posts and top runners on deck as per drawing of post locations
- Begin your installation at any corner by measuring in from the corner 3-1/4" and down from the top of deck 2-9/16".
- Drill a hole at this point with a 3/16" drill bit. (This is now the location of the top mounting hole of the first post).
- Position post so that top mounting hole is aligned with hole just drilled and fasten with a 5/16" lag screw 5" long.
- Place level on post and be sure it is plumb.
- Drill bottom hole and insert screw as above. Be sure that post is plumb in all directions and tighten.
- Take a change of direction fitting and apply bonding cement to the inside of both ends of the fitting.
- Slide fitting onto the installed post sleeve with a twisting motion.
- Take the next post going around the corner and slide into the open end of the change of direction fitting with a twisting motion.
- Make sure all components are plumb and level and screw to deck, same as the first post.
- Take the first top horizontal component and apply bonding cement to both ends.
- Slide the component onto the installed post with a twisting motion.
- Slide one end of the next post onto the last component with a twisting motion.
- Screw post to deck by locating the top mounting hole 2-9/16" down from the top of the deck while making sure that it is at all times plumb.
- Repeat until installation in completed.
Notes:
Do not use the level on the horizontal top members as the railing will need to follow the pitch of the deck. The end of a run that does not have a change of direction needs to be a capped post.
Cable Installation:
The final phase. The cable installation.
- Slide cable into a threaded cable fitting and secure with two adjoining crimps.
- Slide threaded fitting with cable attached through a full run of holes.
- Screw one 1/4" jam nut onto fitting leaving about 1/8" of thread visible.
- Stretch cable and cut to size.
- Screw one 1/4" jam nut and tighten until cable is snug. (Take care not to over tighten.
- Secure position of the nut by tightening the acorn nut to the jam nut.
- Repeat the above steps until the end of project.
NOTES:
A small visegrip to hold the threaded fitting while tensioning the cable, is helpful. Cable cutters and crimpers are readily available at tool rental stores as well as through us. Any questions? PLEASE CALL.
